At Centurion University, our commitment to sustainable development goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. It extends to the very heart of our community, where we nurture not only the minds of our students but also the soil beneath our feet. In this spirit, we proudly present the story of our recent event, the “Nutritional Garden & Natural Resource Management Workshop.”
On September 29th and September 30th, 2023, buzzed with anticipation. The objective was clear: to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills for sustainable resource utilization, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Leading the way was our esteemed resource person, Mr. Bijay Kumar Toppo from FES-Koraput. With his extensive expertise, Mr. Toppo guided participants through the intricacies of nutritional gardening practices and effective natural resource management. But that’s not all. We were also privileged to have Mr Samar Sekhara Khuntia, a State-level Master Trainer under the Odisha Livelihood Mission. Mr. Khuntia, a Block-level Resource person for the implementation of Nutrition Gardens, brought invaluable insights and practical tips to enrich the overall learning experience.
While the workshop was designed to benefit students and academics in agriculture and related fields, it was open to anyone passionate about sustainable agriculture and nutrition. This diversity brought a wealth of perspectives, creating a dynamic learning environment that fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The workshop’s engaging sessions covered a range of topics, from the fundamentals of nutritional gardening to advanced techniques in natural resource management. But this wasn’t a one-way street; participants had the opportunity to interact with the resource persons, ask questions, and engage in hands-on activities to reinforce their learning.
As we reflect on the success of this workshop, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Bijay Kumar Toppo and Mr. Samar Sekhara Khuntia for their invaluable contributions. Their passion and expertise significantly enhanced the quality of the learning experience for all participants.
Looking ahead, Centurion University remains committed to organising more such events in the future. Our aim is to continue promoting sustainable practices in agriculture and nutrition. As we do so, we also contribute to the global effort to advance the United Nations SDGs, making our planet a better place for future generations. Such endeavours are aimed at a more sustainable workshop, and be part of our mission to empower through education and advance sustainable development.
At Centurion University, we believe that education isn’t just about what happens inside the classroom; it’s about making a positive impact on the world around us. Together, we are writing a story of empowerment, sustainability, and progress.
