Centurion University, Odisha, recently witnessed a heartening reunion as alumni from the batches of 1998-2002 & 1999-2003 gathered for the Alumni Meet 2024. Held on the picturesque Paralakhemundi campus on the 3rd and 4th of February 2024, the event marked a celebration of nostalgia, camaraderie, and a renewed commitment to the alma mater’s growth.

From the outset, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and anticipation as more than 25 alumni and their families were welcomed by enthusiastic student volunteers and faculty members. The occasion was marked by special gestures, including the distribution of custom-designed T-shirts, symbolizing the unity and shared experiences of the alumni community.

The inaugural day commenced with a poignant interaction session led by Dr. D. N. Rao, Vice President of Centurion University, who eloquently traced the institution’s journey from JITM@1998 to CUTM@2024. Dr. Rao’s address set the tone for the alumni to reflect on their past and envision a collaborative future with their alma mater.

The alumni were presented with a comprehensive outline of expectations towards contributing to the university’s development. Ranging from fostering industry connections to supporting academic initiatives, alumni were called upon to play pivotal roles in mentoring current students, aiding in placement activities, and engaging in social entrepreneurship endeavours.

The felicitation of senior members and engaging speeches, notably by Mr. Manoj Nayak, President of the JITM-CUTM Alumni Association, underscored the significance of alumni involvement in shaping the institution’s trajectory.

Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Anita Patra, Registrar, Dr. Durga Prasad Padhi, Dr. Sangram Keshari Swain, Prof. Sambeet Patro, Dr. Prajna Pani, Dr. Atanu Deb, and Mr. Bishnu Pal, alumni coordinator, who played instrumental roles in organizing and facilitating the event.

Centurion University proudly hosted a groundbreaking conference on February 2, 2024, focusing on the latest advancements in Allied Medical Sciences. Held at its Bhubaneswar campus, the event brought together esteemed professionals, scholars, and healthcare experts to share insights, discuss emerging trends, and explore collaborative opportunities.

The conference began with a warm welcome and opening remarks by Prof. Biswajit Mishra, the Pro Vice Chancellor of Centurion University, Odisha. The lighting of the lamp symbolized the enlightenment that was to follow, marking the start of a journey into medical innovation and excellence.

In response to the evolving healthcare needs, the School Of Paramedics & Allied Health Sciences at Centurion University announced the launch of the MSc Medical Microbiology program. This initiative aims to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills to tackle emerging health challenges, including antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases, and to meet the demands of today’s medical landscape.

Distinguished speakers from various domains of Allied Medical Sciences contributed their expertise to enrich the discourse. Dr. Jyotiranjan Sahoo from NISER shared insights into neurology, while Prof. (Dr.) Sachidananda Mohanty emphasized collaborative efforts in advancing healthcare delivery systems. The opening of the book titled “The Health of New India” and a tour of the department followed, officiated by Prof. Mohanty.

Professor (Dr.) Sanjay Rajpal conducted a session on life skills and motivation, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Debipada Mishra, Manager I & EI at SoPAHS, Centurion University of Technology and Management, Bhubaneswar.

Dr. Gautam Patnaik shed light on microbiology and its implications for public health, while Mr. M Vinay Dinakaran, Founder of Mana Eye care Pvt. Ltd., and Dr. Vijay Kumar Kalavakunta discussed optometry, vision science, and holistic wellness.

On February 1st, 2024, a significant partnership was forged between Centurion University and Rastriya Banijya Bank Limited (RBBL), Nepal, as they inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enriching the skill sets of RBBL employees. The signing ceremony, hosted at Centurion University’s Paralakekhmundi campus, symbolized the commencement of a strategic alliance geared towards fostering capacity building within the banking sector.

Centurion University, esteemed for its dedication to excellence in education and skill development, has long been committed to empowering individuals with relevant knowledge and expertise. Centurion University Students Volunteer at National Street Children’s Day 2024

In a world where compassion often lights the path to change, the students of Centurion University proudly stepped forward to participate in the National Street Children’s Day 2024, held in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of Ashayen. From January 29th to January 31st, 2024, our students engaged wholeheartedly in a series of events aimed at advocating for and supporting the rights and education of street children.

The journey commenced with a spirited Mini Marathon on January 29th, themed “ଭିକ୍ଷା ନୁହେଁ ଶିକ୍ଷା” (Bhikhya Nuhe Shikhya), translating to “Education, not Begging.” Students joined hands with Ashayen near Odisha Khadi and Gramodyog Board, Kharabela Nagar, Unit-3, Bhubaneswar, to raise awareness and support the cause. The presence of esteemed guests, including Dr. Amar Patnaik, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, further fueled the spirit of the event.

On January 30th, our students actively participated in the 1st National Consultation on Children Living in Street Situations (CiSS) held at the Auditorium, Campus- 5, KIIT. Engaging in insightful discussions alongside notable speakers like Ms. Lalita Patnaik from UNICEF and Ms. Sumitra Jena, Advisor W&CD, Govt. of Odisha, our students voiced their commitment to advocate for the rights and education of street children.

The culminating day, January 31st, witnessed a celebration of resilience and talent as Ashayen commemorated its annual day and National Street Children’s Day at KIIT Campus-5, Bhubaneswar. Our students immersed themselves in various workshops, engaging with the children and fostering creativity and learning. Esteemed guests, including Ollywood actresses Ms. Usasi Misra and Anu Choudhury, witnessed the remarkable talents nurtured by Ashayen over the years.

Dr. Sangram Keshari Swain, Dean, Students’ Welfare, at Centurion University expressed his enthusiasm and said, “Centurion University is honored to have participated in the National Street Children’s Day 2024, advocating for the rights and education of street children alongside Ashayen. We have been contributing to such a noble cause for the last 15 years and 10 years with Ashayen. In a significant stride towards fostering bilateral ties in education and skill development, Ms Rowan Ainsworth, the Australian Consul General to India, recently visited Centurion University. Accompanied by Ms Angelina Nair, Senior Research and Visits Officer from the Australian Consulate-General in Kolkata, Ms Ainsworth’s visit aimed to explore collaborative opportunities and strengthen the educational partnership between Australia and India.
Centurion University, known for its innovative and practical approach to education, received high praise from Ms Ainsworth during her exploratory visit. A seasoned diplomat and career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Ms Ainsworth has a distinguished background, including her role as Counsellor (Political) at the Australian Embassy in Paris and her current position as Consul General in Kolkata. Her responsibilities involve supporting Australia’s expanding trade, commercial, and investment interests in several eastern and north-eastern Indian states.

Ms Ainsworth expressed her admiration for Centurion University’s unique methods of education delivery. Cyrra’s Exciting Visit to Centurion University Empower Cyber Safety

In a world driven by technology, the rise of cybercrime poses a significant threat to individuals and communities alike. As we navigate the digital landscape, the importance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated. At Centurion University, we have taken a proactive step towards ensuring a safer online environment for all, aligning our efforts with broader sustainability goals.

The Odisha Cyber Safety Campaign, inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha, Shree Naveen Patnaik, marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to building a secure digital future. Running from September 30th to October 15th, 2023, this campaign seeks to raise awareness about the growing menace of cybercrime while emphasizing the importance of cyber safety. It aligns perfectly with our mission to empower our students and local communities with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Our involvement in the campaign is not just symbolic; it is a testament to our dedication to creating a safer and more sustainable future. Today, we had the privilege of hosting the Cyber Rath on our campus. Over 150 students actively participated, along with our 20 dedicated Cyber Volunteers. The presence of ‘Cyrra,’ the campaign mascot, injected enthusiasm and curiosity among our students, making the learning experience engaging and memorable.

One of the most impactful aspects of the day was the interactive session with officers from the Odisha Police. Students seized the opportunity to ask questions, gaining deeper insights into the campaign’s objectives and the broader issue of cybersecurity. This exchange of knowledge is essential as it equips our students with practical skills and awareness, aligning perfectly with our commitment to providing quality education.

At Centurion University, we understand that cybersecurity is not just a technological challenge but a societal one.
