About the Programme
This course is intended to fulfil course requirements for the Cardiovascular Technology program. Catheterization Lab focuses on diagnostic procedures that are performed in the cardiac catheterization lab. Students will learn the history of coronary angiograms, myocardial circulation, catheter recognition as well as basic catheterization techniques for right and left heart catheterization. Students will also have the opportunity to learn Fick cardiac output measurements for evaluation. Program Objective- To understand the terms related to cath lab procedures, hemodynamic monitoring, and coronary angiography.
- To analyze hemodynamic data and Fick Cardiac Outputs and associated parameters.
- To be able to compare and select appropriate catheter for stated procedure.
- To be able to assist a routine right heart cath on a normal adult patient.
- To be able to assist a routine left heart cath with coronaries on the normal adult patient.
- To summarize history of cardiac catheterization and the progression of the procedure over time
