About the Programme
Public health is an interdisciplinary study that focuses primarily on training human resources in delivering health service. It has a strong understanding of the determinants of health and the public health system in the country, the community context, and its influence on globalisation, urbanisation and national policies. The course also mandates to conduct relevant research to analyse complex public health issues and to collaborate with government, communities, academics to promote health and prevent diseases/disease conditions, as well as to provide evidence-based advice for healthy living. Public health being an interdisciplinary science integrates life sciences, social and behavioural sciences, and statistical sciences. Mater of Public Health programme is focused towards developing human resources with the ability to improve public health, develop and implement innovative programmes for health promotion and disease prevention, and contribute to policy making.
