Who Can Apply?
This workshop welcomes faculty members from universities, colleges, and academic institutions, as well as scientists, administrators, professional engineers, NGOs, and young researchers (M.Tech/ME, PhD students) from both government and private sectors. Limited to 50 participants, selection will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Workshop Contents:
- Introduction to Disaster Management: Definition and classification of disasters. Historical perspectives on major disasters
- Disaster Management Framework: Phases of disaster management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
- Utilizing satellite imagery for risk mapping and assessment.
- Applications of drones in disaster assessment and monitoring.
- AI and ML in disaster management.
- Utilizing real-time data for flood forecasting.
- Cyclone tracking and evacuation planning using GIS and drought monitoring and response.
- Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction: Involving communities in disaster planning and mitigation.
- National and International Disaster Policies.
