About Me

Dr. Ashok Singamsetti was a joint PhD student of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Hyderabad and he involved in developing breeding material for the pipeline products and advancing the hybrids through stage gate processes by coordinating multi-location trials at Varanasi and Hyderabad, managed stress condition experiments, data management and analysis through standard software under Climate Resilient Maize for Asia (CRMA) project.

He worked as a Research Associate (Plant Breeding)  for almost two years in Acharya NG Agricultural University under AICRP (Small Millets). His work mainly focused towards conventional and molecular breeding techniques for uplifting quality output (varieties/hybrids) in field crops specifically rice, maize and millets. His under graduate and post graduate studies from Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, Guntur and PhD from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. The outcome of his various research were published in prestigious international journals such as Field Crops Research (IF 6.12) and Frontiers in Plant Science (IF 6.62). He published more than 20 full length research articles in peer reviewed journals, 8 book chapters, two books and attended several national and international conferences, workshops and trainings. He is one of the editorial contributors for a few high impact factor journals such as Frontiers in Plant Science and Scientific Reports etc.  He is a honorary life time member of a few prestigious scientific societies such as Maize Technologists Association of India (MTAI), ICAR-IIMR Ludhiana, Asian PGPR Society, Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding etc.

Dr. Singamsetti bagged prestigious Manihar Best PhD Thesis Award for 2021 by the MTAI, ICAR-IIMR, Ludhiana for his doctoral research contribution. He cleared ASRB NET (2018) in the subject Genetics and Plant Breeding and also UGC NET in Environmental Sciences. During his PhD, he received UGC Fellowship.
